I'm all for editing my subs because after I released it, I have noticed some translation errors and typos that I wish I caught beforehand. However, why mux it with a literal remux on the BDMV? That's adding a lot of bloat that could be removed for the same amount of quality. There's no reason for this release to be 20GB. 8GB max should be what you're aiming for.
It is probably because they noticed the quality decrease of your encode in the screenshot comparison but don't know how to encode so they left it as is.

First image loses detail on the edge of the blue sphere, the lighter brown striations on the brown cloak and general film grain effect.
Second images loses detail on the floating metal orb with the red lights, metal plating, staircase and railings.
At least that is why I would have done it, if I did something like that. It is a minor issue overall.
The HEVC release by animeisdead for the movie is an average ok release. No good HEVC release are there for it though i have checked every single one except AHQx Toshokan one (no idea about this one).
And what Mistywing pointed out is visible in HEVC releases.
Go for x264 for now
@Robo: check [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoGameNoLife/comments/802g2s/current_status_of_bd_rips_and_subtitles/) out regarding subs if you plan on making another release.

@mistywing you're basically making that whole screenshots invalid there, it is not the same frame so it is not a good comparison, end of story.
so what is the point of even making the comparison?
