[Pendekar] Dragon Ball Z Movies & Specials [Dragon Box] [Multi Audio]
========================================================================================
![alt text](https://s31.postimg.org/vpd51nx1n/Dragon_Box_Movies.jpg "[Pendekar] Dragon Ball Z Movies & Specials [Dragon Box] [Multi Audio]")
Untouched Japanese Dragon Box DVD Rips with all available English dubs synced to it.
The video for the preview of TV Special 2 was recreated from scratch
(as it is missing on the actual Dragon Box) and has slight differences
compared to the original broadcast version, such as "Next Time" missing
from the title card, lacking the adress for the lottery, etc.
Broadcast Audio is included for the 2 TV Specials. Most of us believe it is
better than the audio that's uploaded on nyaa, although some people disagree.
Movie 10's Speedy Dub had 2 glitched audio parts. We replaced the first one
with Japanese audio, while we actually managed to fix the second. We thought
Japanese matches their English better than Funimation's dub. Perhaps
the Big Green Dub would have matched best, but screw it, lol.

Cover is included.
Enjoy!
I'm currently the only seeder, when other team members see the torrent has been released, they will follow.
And enjoy BTW! This batch was a PITA, primarily due to Speedy Dub. Everything should go faster now. The new DB Episode 001 is already being tested, in fact. ;-)
We have officially dropped the Blue Water Dub, maybe updating DB and GT with it later, to maintain speed, as syncing it is a PITA and audio quality sucks, especially for the end of DB.
What's edited toonami version? Ocean Dub? In that case, yeah. You might have read something like "Untouched Japanese Dragon Box DVD Rips with all available English dubs synced to it", meaning that if a dub is available on the internetz, we include it, excepting Blue Water, at least for DB, at least for now, as explained above.
To clarify, our DB will feature:
- Japanese DVD audio, of course
- Japanese Broadcast Audio for episodes 1-7 and 153
- 5.1 Funimation Dub from the Blue Bricks
- BLT Dub for the first saga, censored parts filled up with Funi Dub
- Blue Water Dub for episodes 1-4
DBZ will have:
- Japanese DVD audio, of course
- Japanese Broadcast Audio
- Funimation Redub with both Japanese and English source, still unsure if using Bricks or Blu-Rays as source
- Funimation Original Dub, from the Funi singles DVD's
- Ocean Dub
GT will have:
- Japanese DVD Audio (duh)
- GTeam's Japanese Broadcast Audio (with permission, of course)
- Funimation's Redubs from the bricks
- The Original Funimation Dub from the singles
Also, all missing next episode previews have already been recreated from Dragon Box footage, just like the TV Special 2 one in this batch, even Dr. Slumps preview for DB Episode 001... ;-)
I'm mainly interested in the Toonami versions for the Dale Kelly narrations in the Cell Games saga, the original DVDs replace him with Kyle Hebert from that point.

~~~~
Don't know why people are so anal about that.
~~~~
Pioneer/Ocean Dub (AC3 2.0 Audio) (only available for Movies 1, 2, and 3)
~~~~
With the LaserDisc audio (Movie 1) being available it's kinda strange to skip on that.
~~~~
GTeam’s Japanese Broadcast Audio (with permission, of course)
~~~~
That permission. Ain't ya gonna ask TOEI and FUNimation permission, too? xD
Thanks for this batch. Probably the best for the movies overall although I prefer it in fullscreen aspect ratio.
@Super_Saiyan_Lusitano:
> Don’t know why people are so anal about that
Neither do I. Included it for the freaks.
> With the LaserDisc audio (Movie 1) being available it’s kinda strange to skip on that.
Don’t know why people are so anal about that. :D :P
> That permission. Ain’t ya gonna ask TOEI and FUNimation permission, too? xD
While, technicly, we didn't need Gteam's permission, I always think it's better to still get it to avoid fights
> Thanks for this batch. Probably the best for the movies overall although I prefer it in fullscreen aspect ratio.
I don't care much, but video quality of the Japanese Dragon Box is far superior to the Funimation singles, which are 4:3.
~~~~~

I personally prefer the DVD Ocean audio over the LD but that would have been a cool addition.

~~~~~
True. The picture quality from the FUNi DVDs are quite compressed but even then I still prefer for seeing the full picture (well, minus extra picture on the widescreen version).
By the way, DB 012 broadcast audio is available thanks to Dougo13 (and NantoRaws, Shiteater) so why not use it on your release?
> I personally prefer the DVD Ocean audio over the LD but that would have been a cool addition.
It's not like the DVD audio is bad on this one...
> By the way, DB 012 broadcast audio is available thanks to Dougo13 (and NantoRaws, Shiteater) so why not use it on your release?
Because I didn't know about that lol. Should talk to shiteater about Arale one day anyway...
Absolutely MASSIVE props and unlimited 'Thank You's for the quality of your releases!
Your existing DB, DB Movie and DBZ Movie releases are by far the most Complete Edition that I've had the pleasure to come across. Please keep doing what you're doing, and know that it's very appreciated.
Not all heroes wear capes. Pendekar my man, I knew you'd come through!!! Thank you so much!!! Eagerly awaiting your future releases my man!! Cant wait. Thank you again :)
This is how official distributors do with dubs that are missing dubbed scenes. :)
There actually is a found dub you missed. Creative Products Corp in the Philippines dubbed the Cooler duology. https://lostmediawiki.com/Dragon_Ball_and_Dragon_Ball_Z_(partially_found_English_dubs_by_Creative_Products_Corporation;_mid/late_1980s_to_1998)
@LTCProductions It's bound to happen. Dubs hard to find are eventually uploaded to the web and not a whole lot are aware of it.
It'd be great if the Pendekar fansub held off from releasing DB Movies 1-4 till they have the Big Green Dubs (1-3 surely, 4? maybe) of it in is entirety but that may never fully happen. Also, the FUNimation remastered HD footage is better than the Dragon Box for the fact it's in high definition and not cropped, in my opinion, of course.
The Big Green Dubs of Z Movies 10-13 might exist but only AB Groupe and TOEI might have it in their possession.
@LTCProductions: Didn't know about that one. Quality is very low tho... Don't think we'll update with it.
@Super_Saiyan_Lusitano: We already did the DB Movies. I have about half of DB Movie 1's Big Green Dub, but chose not to include it. Disagree with you on the HD footage tho.
@nemurenatta The Double Feature Blu-rays/DVDs are pretty awful too and I can barely see shit (everything was darkened so much unnecessarily) on Movie 13. Also, the Japanese audio on that is utterly horrible!
Thanks for this. Your original DB releases were an inspiration for my releases, and if you do eventually get to DBZ with all the dubs then I will applaud you. Syncing the Ocean dub is a kind of also a PITA though, btw.
One question: Does Movie 3 contain BOTH Ocean dubs? The edited one and the uncut one? They are totally different.
@IKaos No, movie 3 only has the uncut Ocean dub.
Also, to clarify my comment from yesterday, the primary changes in the Toonami version is that Mr. Satan is called Mr. Hercule, and some inappropriate scenes have been cut (For example, those bits in the Buu saga where Master Roshi gropes a female character and gets slapped for it)
I have a FLAC converted version of the 5.1 Funimation redub with Japanese music from the Blu Ray releases of the movies and TV specials. I also have the original TrueHD files.
They're not synced to the Dragon Box. If I uploaded them could you sync them?
@iKaos:
> One question: Does Movie 3 contain BOTH Ocean dubs? The edited one and the uncut one? They are totally different.
Didn't realise that lol. Might add it later.
@Redturbo89:
> I have a FLAC converted version of the 5.1 Funimation redub with Japanese music from the Blu Ray releases of the movies and TV specials. I also have the original TrueHD files.
> They’re not synced to the Dragon Box. If I uploaded them could you sync them?
IIRC they sync perfectly right away... ;-)
I was aware of Pendekar's Dragon Ball torrents but hadn't realised how exhaustive they really were until now, from having things translated to recreating segments. This is almost if not everything I could've wanted from a release of the movies and specials. I can't thank each and every person involved for their time and efforts enough. For somebody who mostly watches on hardware, the SRT subtitles are also more than appreciated.
If I were to nitpick, the recreated preview for the second TV special could've used AB Video's "Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Z : L'intégrale des films (Part 2)" 4:3 release for Movie 8, screenshots (Robo4900): https://imgur.com/a/unFxh
@MadSpecialist So fuckin' true! If someone here has the Big Green Dub of DB Movies 1-3 full please share it here or with Pendekar so that we can have the definitive release of the movies with dubs so hard to come by.
There's also a Big Green Dub of DBGT TV-Special but it's extremely rare too.
@LTCDProductions How does one exactly define how many episodes a season of DBZ have? As per FUNimation’s Season Set DVD / Blu-rays?
If avoiding the FUNimation format, then a season normally has around 10~14 or 22~24 episodes per season.
Ah. Anyway, you've inspired me to try something similar for Kai, with these audio tracks:
*Original Japanese version with Kikuchi score
*Original Japanese version with Yamamato score (1-95)
*Funimation dub uncut version
*Funimation dub edited Nicktoons version (1-97)
*Funimation dub edited Toonzai/Vortexx version (1-75)
@MadSpecialist:
> If I were to nitpick, the recreated preview for the second TV special could’ve used AB Video’s “Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Z : L’intégrale des films (Part 2)” 4:3 release for Movie 8, screenshots (Robo4900): https://imgur.com/a/unFxh
Didn't know about that one. Why does something new always pop up AFTER I release a batch lolz.
@LTCProductions & @Super_Saiyan_Lusitano:
We'll release it in saga's, just like we did with the pre-nyaapoclypse releases. So some batches will be much bigger than others. I made this choice for two reasons. Primarily because they are stored on my computer that way, but also because it just annoys me to see the word "season" on any anime release.
> So 39 episodes per season? That’s more of a collection labelled as a “season.”
My point exactly, that's more a saga, or an arc, in which anime's are usually divided, as they tend to run the entire year, and not only a season.
> Ah. Anyway, you’ve inspired me to try something similar for Kai, with these audio tracks:
That's awesome dude! One of our team members is planning the same thing, using the Japanese 4:3 BR video footage. Maybe you two can help each other, maybe even join forces.
Thanks very much for such a thorough release!
As an aside, I did have a question about future releases. I remember on one of your previous releases (the General Blue and Commander Red episodes), the Japanese audio was off-sync by about one second. I believe this problem began with episode 55 and continued for about ten episodes, though it might occur in other episodes as well. I've seen this problem elsewhere, so it's probably an issue with the Dragon Box itself. Is there any way you might be able to re-sync them for your re-release? I just wanted to give a friendly heads-up in case you weren't aware. Thanks!
Also, I know this is a while away, but will the two episodes of DBZ that had their Japanese audio released on CD (229 and 237) have that audio as an additional option?
@LTCProductions: I take it you have e-mail?
@Pasta67: I became aware after the fact, but I forgot about it, so thx 4 reminding me. I believed it started with the episode with the misplaced negatives. Maybe that's even the source of the problem, as optical audio was used on the boxes. Sure, I'll try to fix it (if I don't forget again). Lolz now I even have to pay attention to the sync of the Japanese dub... Grrrr... :P :D
Maybe TOEI or Funi should hire me lolz.
> Also, I know this is a while away, but will the two episodes of DBZ that had their Japanese audio released on CD (229 and 237) have that audio as an additional option?
Maybe. Will decide when I get there.
@pukulan10jurus: An amazing release and an excellent work on your part! I just have one recommendation. Why don't you encode in 10-bit? I know for a fact that 10-bit encoding produces greater results than 8-bit. Have you thought of that? And one more recommendation would be to create your own chapters rather than using DVD ones. It's just visually better and keener on the eye. Just think about it.
@Yusei573: 10-bit encoding on a DVD is kinda pointless, as DVD's are 8-bit at most. Like the Dragon Box, most DVD's have an averige bitrate of 4-6, in fact, and 8-bit DVD's are usually marketed as Superbit... You can't add quality that's not there, otherwise Broadcast Audio would have never been a thing... ;-) Also, if I would make the chapters myself, I would put them on the same places they are now. But how is making your own chapters keener on the eye? Anyway, thanks for thinking along.
@LTCProductions: then add @gmail.com to my username here and e-mail me. I'll put you guys in touch. He was interested too. ;-)
@pukulan10jurus Well, I can definitely see your point on the 8-bit vs 10-bit debate. Does that mean that you'll consider using 10-bit on your BD encodes? What I mostly mean keener on the eyes on my chapters suggestion is to use different namings on the chapters themselves following GTeam's excellent pattern:
https://nyaa.si/view/953150
OR a more detailed one like WhoIsTheMilkMan's release:
https://nyaa.si/view/832044
You'll see that they're definitely an improvement and aesthetically better for your releases. Just give it a go if you decide it of course.
Also, regarding your BD vs Orange Bricks audio tracks, I'd suggest you using both as they use different music scores and placements and it'd be great to have them all. Though, I please you to use FLAC format for all of your BD audios.
No problem. It's my pure pleasure to help optimize your amazing releases to the fullest to perfect as much as possible!
And also, my main concern is the accuracy of the subs. Are your subs thoroughly QC for consistency on naming, attacks and translation wise and also for possible spelling/grammatical errors and typos?
I did use 10-bit on the director's cut of Battle of Gods, the 2d version of Resurrection F, and on my first DB Super test encodes, but not sure if I'll use those, as 10-bit has much lower compatibility with hardware. Which is why I did the 3d version of Resurrection F in 8-bit, because even I myself wouldn't be able to watch it otherwise... I'm still in doubt on this subject.
Renaming the chapters requires me to extract and reinsert them, for which I am too lazy, and give too less of a fuck for to actually do. I did it with my previous rips, I think, but I'm fine with just "Chapter X" now.
Is the BD audio with English score any different from it's Orange Bricks counterpart? Are you sure? With most of my BR rips so far, I just kept the DTS track as is, which is even better than FLAC. In fact, I almost kept the insanely huge Master Audio.
I do check for consistency on naming of persons and attacks, but I try to leave the subs alone as much as possible, as the translation is actually quite good. Also, English is only my 3rd language, so I'm not very good at spelling/grammar/etc. I'd probably make things worse... ;-) We did, however, translated and reinserted the missing next episode preview subtitles for all episodes that were missing them, including Dr Slump's 243's DB 001 preview and DB 153's DBZ 001 preview, which have already been recreated.
For the 8-bit vs 10-bit my best recommendation for the BD encodes would be to make one version for each so anyone can choose either quality or compability. Personally, I connect my PC through HDMI on my TV and watch all 10-bit shows with ease. For me, I'd like to archive all your BD releases in 10-bit if possible. So please think about 2 versions if you're unsure.
For your DB encodes will you follow the pattern I suggested? If not, can you please pinpoint me how would you name them so I can do that myself?
Yes they are. There are tons of tiny different music scores through the episodes. One that comes to mind if you wanna check out is the memorial flashback scenes of Goku's death after the end of the Cell Games where the Z Warriors remember Goku as a kid. Check it out. It's episode 192 of DBZ, Goku's Decision.
Well, DTS tracks are nice and all but aren't they too big iirc? I mean why wouldn't you encode them in FLAC? All major BD encodes nowadays tend to use FLAC. And besides, if you're encoding the video you might as well encode the audio too for consistency. It just doesn't feel right to have non encoded audio with encoded video ya know? Which brings me to my other point. Why don't you include BD audios on the DBZ Movies and Specials? Their quality is far superior from the DVD AC3 you used. I'm talking about FUNi's BD Double Features. They use the exqct same audio tracks with the Remastered DVDs you used but they're far superior.
Also, as for the subs did you have a good translator for the missing NEPs subs?
There won't be any BD encodes except Movies 14, 15, and Super (and Kai if that other project dies), so I got lots of time to think.
I told you I'm too lazy for those chapters. I would name them like opening, recap, first part, second part, ending, next episode preview.
Jesus Christ about the BD audio. Another dub... Will check out how different it is, thx. I don't rip to FLAC because my home cinema won't play it. Feels pointless to encode somethinig I can't actually watch... Also, not encoding just sounds a lot better. And why should you recode the audio if it's not necessary? Also, I did use the BD audio for the movies, just encoded it to AC3, that's all.
About the subtitles, I wouldn't call myself the best translator in the world, but I like to think I did an okay job. ;-)
I pray for you to go with 10-bit as an option when the time comes and for also to do a Kai project to complete the franchise. On another note, for Buu Saga of Kai I also pray for you to mux the dub onto the JPN BDs instead of the TFC BDs cause I'd just love to archive the whole franchise with JPN sources. Or at least TFC BDs with JPN Credits.
Well, for the movie chapters I'd have to retime them since they use different time codes from the episodes. Also, the OVA seems to be lacking chapters. Was it because of the DVDs?
Interesting. So for the BD audios synched to DVD you encode them to AC3 whereas for the BD audios synched to BD you leave it as DTS. Interesting pattern you got there. Well, I guess I could always encode it myself if it comes down to this.
I will trust your subs work 100% as I see the passion you dedicate to the series and there's no way you would release something non archive material and non thoroughly QC. I just hate inconsistencies like "Frieza" from "Freeza" etc.
I also hope you use a consistent karaoke and subs typestting snd styling for all the series and movies.
Oh, and before I forget. Regarding the 2 TV Specials I'd like you to please take a good look at this and tell me your feedback:
http://www.kanzenshuu.com/reviews/special-selection-dvd/
SS DVDs:
https://mega.nz/#!GsJETZ7D!bf348NcgkdewDmtW5zWgSRBfW5rM4yWunKZBFsuU9cE
I'm only doing Kai if that other project dies. But he uses the Jap BD and so would I.
Movies have chapters on the Dragon Box, no need to retime them. Also, chapters depend on keyframes in the video. OVA indeed doesn't have any chapters on DVD.
I did the re-encoding to AC3 to maintain compatibility, and also because it's more usual for a DVDRip, where DTS is the most common format for BDRips. I was actually being pretty damn uniform.
Let's just say that I do my best very hard for every translation, and even if I didn't understood, we've got a teammember who is actually fluent in Japanese. And he checked them all, and approved them. I am very consistent in my subtitling ways. Only movie 15 is a little different with the fonts, but I think it's a good thing in that case. You'll see. ;-)
The Special Selection DVD, read up about it, I learned that the Dragon Box is in fact a 8-bit DVD, unlike that SS DVD, which is 5-6 bit, also audio quality drops from 448 to 192. Finally the article mentions that you have to compare the images side by side to notice that the 6-bit version has no tiny black border and is slightly sharper than the 8-bit Dragon Box. (See how little bit depth says on this level?) So I'd say if it's that barely notible, I'd trade in the black bar for the 448kbps audio anyday.
Really cool to know that Kai is on the list no matter what with JPN BDs!
Also, thanks for letting me know about the chapters and the SS DVDs. I'll keep that in mind!
I trust your subs work and I cannot wait to see your surprise for Movie 15! :)
Also, what is next on your list? Movies 14 and 15 or DB?
The 3d version of movie 15 "surprise" is nothing that special. It's just 3d subtitle positioning, like they do in the movie theaters to avoid the subs messing up the 3d. It's a PITA, so not sure if I'll complete it tho...
The next batch will probably be a really small one, being the extras of the DB box. I'm also working on Son Goku and friends return and episode of Bardock and the OVA remake. If that or the Goku saga will be released first depends on what's finished first. And movies 14 and 15 will be released when I decide what to do with the 10-bit/8-bit thing.
Since you mentioned them, it's worth noting that the Japanese DVD release of the recent specials features video problems for "Episode of Bardock" and audio problems for the OVA remake (specifically, there's an incorrect mono mix instead of its proper stereo mix). I'm not sure if you obtained the specials by ripping them from the video games or the DVD. Forgive me if I'm telling you something you already know, but I just wanted to point it out if you were using that DVD for your releases.
I have a ps3rip of the OVA remake, but it is 1280x720. I also have another rip that is 1920x1080 that also has stereo audio. Could be mono presented in stereo tho. Will compare the audio. Do yo have a good example of a moment where the mono becomes noticable?
For Episode of Bardock I have no clue on 2 of the 3 sources I have. One if them is 1280x720, so it might be a xbox rip. The 3rd is a R2J DVD. What are the video problems? Also, know of a good example?
I could try to re-rip them myself. Never ripped from a game before tho, but shouldn't be that hard.
I'm afraid I don't own the DVD itself to check. Apologies in advance, I realize that's not helpful. This review (www.kanzenshuu.com/reviews/saikyo-jump-bonus-dvd/) goes into greater detail (with examples) under the "Presentation" section.
A DB/Z/GT episode is about 800MB-1GB, My first Super encode was 1,2GB. My current Movie 14 theatrical cut is about 4GB, the director's cut 7GB, and my 2d Movie 15 is 10GB and my 3d movie 15 is about 18GB. I know that last one is insane, but it's beautifull.
DBZ Kinect is giving me shit. When I look through the 8GB big .iso, all I see is 3 files of about 10MB. I think xbox games have their own unique filesystem that only an xbox can read or something. Will try to find someone who can capture Episode of Bardock with one of those gameplay recording thingies. Or maybe you can see the files with a modded xbox360? Will keep trying for a bit. Anyone here that has a modded xbox360, by any chance?
All rips of Episode of Bardock I've found so far appear to be DVDrips. I think this one might be really hard to rip from Xbox. It's possible tho. Saw one rip but the torrent's dead. Let's just hope I can pull it off. Maybe I just need the right software or something.
Never mind, I got it. I was indeed missing the right software (xbox360isoextract). Was easier than PS3 in the end, as I didn't need to re-mux the sound. It's just a plain WMV lolz.
Technically speaking the French Dragon Ball "Golden" Blu-ray will have the *Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans* and *Episode of Bardock* in better high definition than it did on PS3/360 but who really knows until someone compares it side-by-side.
I guess as to why PtEtSS and EoB were included is because they already received Western releases (RB2 + For Kinect) before but not the 2008 Special and speaking of which, the 2008 Special was only ever on standard definition though there were 720p upscales (hardly looks much better, imo).
Well, whatever. End of ranting.
~~~

The PS3 version is apparently somewhat better but guess it's just a slight improvement.
Pendekar, is there some way to follow your progress on the DB projects outside of Nyaa? I've been chomping up the original DB sagas at quite a pace now and I was wondering when we might see the next batch? I don't mean this in a "Please, hurry the hell up!" kind of manner but I'm just excited about everything you guys are putting out since they feel like a "definitive collection". Thank you so much for doing this... I really appreciate all you do.
@Super_Saiyan_Lusitano:
That French BluRay might be interesting. When will that come out? I don't mess with my video, so Son Goku and Friends is just a normal DVD-Rip.
> The PS3 version is apparently somewhat better but guess it’s just a slight improvement.
There is no PS3 version of DBZ For Kinect nor is there another PS3 game that features Episode of Bardock, so you got me kinda confused here...
@dubmo: No, there isn't. We're a nyaa-only group. One of our team members once got a DMCA takedown with his own project because he became too big. So no website or IRC channel for us. At least not in the near future.
Next batch will come soon. Maybe even today. But it will be a small one. It will be either the newer DBZ OVA's or the DB Dragon Box extra's. As far as the the series go, I'm just now muxing DB Episode 005. Without the Blue Water, things go a lot faster!
~~~
This year and for about 30 Euros (about 37 dollars, not counting shipping).
~~~
Sorry I confused ya, I just meant the *Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans* and not the *Episode of Bardock*.
Either way, these two specials aren't something I'm particularly a fan of so I won't be buying the French Blu-ray although if it had the 2008 Special remastered.. that would have been a different case.
Just to clarify, will you be using the Dragon Box footage for your uploads of DBZ? I have the blurays and tried watching them but I can't help but notice the image freaking out and moving in a subtle way, like its having a seizure.
hey pukulan10jurus, which video source are you gonna use for GT
btw can you reduce the video to 400-500 for episodes, think 1gb is way too large
btw nice work and thanks
Every audio file states 2.0 Dolby Digital. But for clarity, every movie except DBZ Movie 13 and DB Movie 4 are mono with two audio channels, those two exceptions are true Stereo.
There is, however, a Stereo release for DBZ Movie 6 and DBZ Movie 11, 6 was only released in cassette format and no one has ripped it yet, although 11 has been ripped and has torrents.
Would you be interested in including that extra audio track? I've been trying to sync it since it's a few seconds off, but I lack the experience.
2.0 Dolby digital is just the format the audio is in.
I wouldn't be interested in doing that myself. I would, however, be willing to teach you how to sync audio really good. It's not gonna be easy when using non-DVD sourced stuff tho. E-mail me if you want to learn to do it yourself. Just add @gmail.com to my username and hit me up.
The only thing I can think of to make this the only DBZ movie/ova/special release you ever need to download, would be a 2nd video track with 4:3 video for the movies.
So are these remuxes or encodes. The "in H264" description, when the DVDs are mpeg2, would indicate that they are encodes. But why would you encode something at the same size as the source? Wouldn't it be much better to leave the source untouched and remux it?
pukulan10jurus I'm sorry I got to the conversation 9 months late, but I may have something important to add.
Before I found this conversation, I was able to get the wmv of the Episode of bardock from the XBox 360 Dragon Ball Z for Kinect disc using the same program you used to extract the files. However it is supposed to have the english subtitles, but I do not have any subtitles available in the subtitle submenu when playing that wmv file in VLC or windows media player. I used FFMpeg to try and extract any subtitle files from the wmv file just to make sure, and it says there are none in that wmv file. I really wanted specifically these english subtitles for the Episode of bardock. Do you know how to get the subtitles off of the XBox Kinect disc?
I assume that the subtitles must be mixed in with another file from the disk since I don't see a subtitle file anywhere after the extraction. But I have no idea which file the subtitles would be mixed in with, or what program to use to extract them.
Maybe wampa1 can let us know if that dead torrent both of you were talking about has english subs with it. If it does, wanpa1 can you please revive the torrent and maybe give a link to the torrent so we can get that. I'm pretty sure I have that torrent trying to download for the past month or so with no seeds. I would however prefer to find a way to rip the subtitles myself or get them from someone who has ripped them so I know they are genuine, but I will take what I can get at this point.
It's driving me crazy. I have tried searching google for 2 days now for a way to get subtitles off of an XBox 360 Disc, but it seems that it is not common enough for an XBox game to have a movie with subtitles where others would have the same problem. I finally found this conversation as the last link on the last page of my final google search before I was about to give up. This is the only webpage I have found that has anyone talking about ripping a video from an XBox game, but there is still no mention of the subtitles.
No, I don't know how to do that, I failed to succeed in that department too. I took 'em from either another release or opensubtitles, not sure anymore, was a long time ago.
Not that it matters, subtitles were already synced to the new superior BluRay-rip.
Thank you so much for responding. It means a lot to me.
But this still matters to me because even though I already have a 1GB rip of the new french blu-ray with english subtitles, I don't know what source those english subtitles came from. I heard that the Malaysia made Episode of bardock DVD has really bad english subtitles, so I hope it isn't from that.
I wanted the official English subtitles from this game disc so I can have a historical backup of what is the first official english subtitles made for Episode of Bardock that is also synced to the wmv video from the XBox disc. Also I have not seen this OVA yet since I would like the first time I see it to be with these subtitles.
If I have to I will find a computer that will run the XBox Emulator called Xenia which will hopefully play the subtitles with episode of bardock, and I will verify if it is the same subtitles as the ones synced with the french blu-ray. If not I will have to type them out and sync them manually.
For now I am searching the files that were extracted from the XBox Kinect Disc. Since my last post I have managed to find a program to extract the contents of the AFS files in the parent directory from where the episode of bardock wmv file is located. Those afs files seem to be the only possibility of where the subtitles could be located. I see one afs that is labelled sound which I am hopefull somehow has the subtitles. But there are more than 44000 files inside. I am hoping that the Xenia XBox 360 emulator has a logging function that will tell me what files are being accessed when playing the video with subtitles. Also I will be looking for a program to search the contents of every file all at once so I can search for some words that would be in the subtitles to determine which of the 44000 files it is. Hopefully the subtitles are stored in plain text in one of the files.
last post was too long, completing post in this post.
I will make another post only when I am done, and only if I get anywhere with this so I can share the subtitles if they are different.
If anyone else has any suggestions on another forum to ask these questions, that would be amazing and very much appreciated.
Again Wampa1, if you could let me know if there are english subtitles in that XBox Episode of Bardock torrent that you got before the torrent was dead, that would be great to know. I will PM you if there is a way to PM since you are probably not reading this.
pukulan10jurus, I forgot to ask if you remember if you managed to get the english subtitles from the Playstation 3 Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 Disc for Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans. The XBox version doesn't even have the audio in the wmv file which is split into around 5 files. I know you said you had to remux the audio for the PS3 version, but did you get those subtitles?
The Xbox Episode of Bardock is a single WMV that's right for the taking in the file structure of the disc (which requires a program to fully be read on pc), and it does have sound. But why would you want that mkv when you have the Blu-Ray?
I have no clue if the subs we use are identical to the Xbox subs, but I expect them to be. Only one way to find out: compare.
Ripping Plan to Eradicate from PS3 indeed did require me to concatenate some video files.
I don't think I was able to rip the subtitles from PS3 either, but I was able to confirm on my own PS3 that the subs we use are the same, word for word. Including the useless "GUAAAAAAAH"'s, even.
Thanks for the info on the subtitles you used for the Rip of the PS3 version of Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans. That will save me a lot of time. Time is precious. I found your torrent for that. I will download it when I am ready.
Why I would want the wmv?
The wmv is smaller than the 1.15GB mkv rip of the Blu-ray in 1080p I have, but the wmv is actually slightly better color & slightly sharper image than the mkv since the wmv it is untouched. I plan to download the 11GB untouched french Blu-ray disc files for the 2 OVA's eventually. So I mostly just need the subtitles for the wmv that would be hopefully synced to it after finding them and adding them to the wmv. If they are different than the subtitles added to the French Blu-ray, I wanted to replace those with the XBox subtitles. But after all that work, the wmv is small enough to just keep as a backup for the original precise Syncing of those subtitles which I can use as a reference for the timing.
If the wmv looks better, there's something seriously wrong lol.
The subs would need to be shifted a little.
DB Movies Dragon Box Rips will get updated with the new Speedy Dubs very soon BTW!
Nope, movies were already widescreen. In the case of these Dragon Ball movies, the animation was formatted for both widescreen and fullscreen. Presumably one for cinema, one for home release.
The audios should be synched to the Amazon Webrips, and Movie #3 is missing the Ocean Dub edited audio. I found a download that had the Tree of Might edited audio synched to the Dragon box video.
Not sure what the issue is, and I'm assuming it's a problem on my end because nobody else is mentioning it, but a lot of the subtitles aren't showing up when i select them. generally it's only the first two from the dropdown menu that work. Any suggestions?
How did you eliminate the green line on the left side of the screen? I converted the dvds to mkv passthrough and it bugs me, i'd be glad for a solution.
