Was the resolution a personal choice, or is there an "intended" resolution? I noticed that while you mentioned this is from the Japanese DVD, the respective ISO on AB is still 4:3.

Another version I found (the "IM" versoin) is "anamorphic 720x480" but still 4:3 and the screenshots are 720x534 (basically 4:3). So I don't know if there's a widescreen version of this out somewhere or not. The composition of the show never made me think it was intended for widescreen.
