I found that I had a fixed Ep02 that was not in the other releases here. The bad Ep02 has both subs as JPN. This one corrects that. If you already have E-D'S old release you only need the Ep02 from here.
I downloaded Karin from Exiled Destiny back in 2010, and while both sub tracks are listed as Japanese, the first sub is for the English audio track (signs & songs). It is labeled differently from the other episode sub tracks, but it's only the label.
Thanks Joe. Satellite has gotten better speed wise but still has atmospheric disruptions. I cannot afford a seedbox since I am a Disabled Veteran. It does give me time to fix things though (smile).
Right Coralline. This fixes that label because it causes problems for those of us who mainly watch with subs rather than dubs. I just keep dubs around for guests so being able to easily switch is important.
@BobP
Sorry, please ignore my previous comment if you happened to see it before I deleted it. I found the original torrent here: https://nyaa.si/view/61720
I'll redirect my concerns to them, since they're closer to the source.
Good luck Rats. As far as I know the group is defunct which is why I am doing fixes. I may consider doing a new rip but I think the sources may be low quality too.
@BobP
I just looked at their website (https://exiled-destiny.com/) and there are posts on it more recently than I would have expected, but yeah it looks like they're dead.
Anyway I think I had the wrong idea about what E-D does. For the longest time I thought they were just one of those really old subgroups that people only downloaded from because there was no alternative, but it looks like they're actually just an encoder, which explains why they almost never use styled subs.
Long story short I wanted to write a scathing review of their subs for Karin, but that seems kind of pointless when all they do is copy the subs from Blu-ray / DVD and maybe re-style slightly if they feel like it.
>I may consider doing a new rip but I think the sources may be low quality too.
Like I said before, my main gripe with the E-D release is the quality of the subs, so if no other subs exist (and I certainly can't find any), I won't ask you to make a new rip.
Rats -- I don't remember these subs being particularly bad, as R1 subs go, but some fansubbed versions do exist, from a.f.k., We Suck, and Kaze no Koe Fansubs. Of course, those are TV source, and hardsubbed .avi or .mp4.
@ReDone
Yea I wish there was a way to link up this dvd video/audio with fansubbed subs but they are all hardsubbed so there would be OCR required and a lot of cleanup work that is beyond me.
@ReDone-Subs
I have since discovered fansubbed versions on bakabt but you're right about them being hardsubs, and the timing on the KnFK subs is downright awful. The problem with the E-D subs was not that they were from official sources, but rather that they somehow introduced a bunch of typos (mostly switching "L" and "I"), and they restyled the subs for episodes 1-12 to be bright red with a white outline and black shadow, a color combination that made my eyes hurt after only a few lines. Look at the [screenshots](http://bakabt.me/torrent/142557/karin-e-d) on bakabt and you'll see what I mean (unfortunately I don't think that link will work without a BBT account).
a.f.k. subs are watchable though. They're a little blurry (probably due to being hardsubs), but they did things other groups didn't like subbing the credits. They also don't have any typos.
I am thinking about recoloring the main subs on this one either white, light red (pinkish like the titles), or dark red (maroon) with or without a pleasantly red outline. Anyone have any thoughts? Yes, I finally learned how to manipulate subs. Subbing credits is out of my league though.
After subbing/translating few dozens of movies, shows & animations... I just understand that overdoing over subtitles is just bad.
That what is good for some karaoke or intro/outro can be disadvantage for normal fluent of text.
Most of useful colouring schemes:
- instead white-black some arial try to some book font & some yellow-orange paper colour for inside for most cases
- green-black is good also for some sci-fi, cartoons, or just low-res video (576p & below, because just of nature of people sight)
- white + red or blue outside is mostly bad decision
- red inside + black - bad decision in most cases, especially for main text
- red+white - same
- some pastel, light pink inside (not bright toxic pink) is not bad decision, will be good for Karin (+black outside)
