What series you choose to work on is your prerogative, but it is slightly annoying to see shows that already have official translations get picked up by groups instead of something like Kakegurui this season - a popular show with no official subs that people want to see but no group is picking up, so we have to deal with one-man team shit subs. That being said, thanks and I look forward to your releases of this show.

I can appreciate your opinion, but I'll expand upon the points with information you're not able to access from the outside of the fansub sphere: 1) Kakegurui actually has a reputable fansub group working on it, currently speedily wrapping up Hiryuu's old BD release and moving on to S2. 2) While there are official subs for this show, the translation quality is decent at best, and the editing leaves a massive amount to be desired. 2a) Here's a diff-check to base CR versus my final edit: https://www.diffchecker.com/FkoTET5J Trust, us picking up Neverland is worth the effort. As much as certain things do need saving, fansubbing runs in a way that the staff need to enjoy what they're working on to do it for free for hours every week. If that isn't the case, burnout shows up REAL fast.

I have two questions: 1. Why not upload a 1080p release? 2. Is there any way to download just the softsubs without any video (preferably via automated rss) I'm all for fansubs and I don't mind waiting a little longer at all for better quality subs, but I'd still like to view my anime in 1080p. I'm too lazy to manually mux the subs with a random web-dl every time a new episode drops, but since I view everything through plex external subs would work just fine anyway. I can't be the only one, right? Nevertheless, I appreciate the effort of posting high quality subs in a time where fansubs are on a steep decline.

To answer your questions: 1) Releasing this willingly at 1080p would be considered upscaling, which we prefer to shy away from because it degrades visual quality. We value fidelity over resolution. 2) You can use something like AnimeTosho for just the subs, or our Batch Script repo on GitHub which you can find through our website.

The encode is actually descaled Wakanim dehardsubbed with CR. It's at its native resolution. Full screen it in your player and you have the same thing, or better if you choose to upscale your anime with a superior resizing algorithm such as ravu or nnedi3, as what CR and Wakanim 1080p looks like at a much smaller size. I was also able to get out most of the banding and the grain retention is superb from what I saw when comparing filtered to encode. I can't think of a single reason why you'd prefer another encode over this one. EDIT: Oh, wait. I dehardsubbed Wakanim with Amazon.co.jp and synced it to that so we could use Amazon's superior EAC3 over what Wakanim or CR had.

mhmh. the problem with this series is that i feel that if i don't watch the episode as soon as it gets out, i will need to live without internet until a fansub release in order to avoid spoils. But still thanks, the day i will rewrite this one it will be from your subs. And if I had read the manga I would have taken it here too.

That's a practice that became common in later '10s after appearance of good-looking simulcasts that only come with hardsubs. You can't really fansub on a hardsubbed video so if you want to have a good video and clean alternatives don't look as good you'll have to remove hardsubs somehow and that's usually done by replacing subbed parts of frame with pixels from the clean video. The exact process depends on what's you're dealing with, where you're getting encoding knowledge from (there's a stash of top secret cartel scripts, true story), or how creative or fucked up of a person you are.
