If you've been waiting for the official subs or English dub, here you go.
But there's a catch. Or two or three. I'll do a QA-style thing to explain.
Q: Why are there two mkv files and why are they both 20GB?
A: Because that's how the BD came and because I don't do video encoding so I just ran the BD through MakeMKV and voila. Yes, I could have got the m2ts files but I don't care. But this is more of a thing for myself anyway, so...
Q: Okay, but what are the two mkv files then?
A: The first one (_t01) has the Japanese audio and the second one (_t02) has the English audio. Now I know what you're thinking. Why didn't I just put the other audio file on the other mkv? And to that, I have an answer. The file with the Japanese audio has a hardsubbed video. Also, the English audio file has closed captions which you can freely enable or disable. I think they both have two different audio streams too but that's another thing I don't know much about.
I think that about covers it.
tl;dr
File 1 (_t01): Japanese audio + hardsubs
File 2 (_t02): English audio + closed captions
Oh yea, I think my upload speed is only like 10mbps so until one of you vultures somehow manages to fully download either of the files, don't expect to watch it anytime soon.
Extra info if you're interested:
Mediainfo says these two files have a bitrate of 19.9Mb/s. The Japanese BD, which I also own, is 30GB and has 35.5Mb/s. Do with that what you will.
EDIT: I hadn't realized before, but the credits on the first (Japanese) mkv are in Japanese and English on the second (English dub) mkv. Wouldn't be a bad idea if you wanted to splice off the English credits and slap those onto the Japanese BD.
Although it's a bit misleading when the CC says this...

But the ending credits say this...

btw the hardsubs have "Ariel". So I'm not entirely sure why there's a different spelling to begin with lol
I've used HandBrake before to do an all in one rip of Blurays, you can easily set it to to do audio, subs, ect. Its almost foolproof, tho ya it will take a day or three to encode something thats not copying the default video sometimes. But its pretty easy to use at least. Thanks for the effort regardless!
This is a terrible release. And I mean the retail disc. In order to have hardsubs for the Japanese track they had to have the same movie twice on the disk and reduce the bitrate. Everybody loses.
Why does every one always bitch about files being too big? I like raw bluray rips-if you want a smaller size then re-encode it yourself. BTW-thanks for the effort man, much appreciated.
I know everybody doesn't has decent internet speeds but just download a smaller file. As to the quality of the official subs-while the kaji subs are serviceable these are quite a bit better from a grammatical and linguistic viewpoint.
At the time I inquired whether someone would be willing to re-encode this file, it was the only available dubbed version to be found. Again, many thanks to Janime6. I do not want what was intended as a polite request to be misconstrued as ingratitude. If smaller file does not surface before I get this downloaded, I will re-encode it for my low bandwidth brethren... Though my upload is slow... XD
I'm trying to mux the english audio with the video from the japanese bluray-problem is the english audio is about 12 seconds longer than the japanese video and I'm having a hell of a time trimming the audio to match the video even though I've converted the DTS HD Master Audio to pcm.......!!
Well the start of these do have about 12 seconds on the Japanese BD due to the Shout! and Eleven Arts logos. So I'd assume all you need to do is trim off the first 12-whatever seconds.
Yeah, I know and that's the problem. Guess I'm gonna have to take a crash course on how to use Audacity to trim the audio. If and when I get the english audio matched with the japanese video I'll upload it.
I really appreciate very much! Surprised to see that subtitles have exact same words as english dub.
I'll try to rip subs now
Anyway was able to use second mkv as audiotrack for first mkv but that's too redundant.
I watched this rip using first mkv as video and second as audio to get subs and the English dub without any problems actually. It wasn't out of sync.
Thanks for the rip!
