A complete re-edit of *Dragon Ball Kai* (itself a re-edit of *Dragon Ball Z*), this recut aims to remove as much of the remaining filler as possible that is still present in *Kai* in order to follow the original *Dragon Ball* manga as closely as possible.

* Not including the OP, ED, NEP, and Recaps for episodes that were combined into one, the original Kai run-time for these episodes (01 to 54) is 20 hours, 19 minutes and 21 seconds.
* My recut of these episodes clocks in at 18 hours, 21 minutes and 09 seconds total.
* That leaves us with a grand total of **1 hour, 58 minutes and 12 seconds** worth of actual show footage cut from these episodes, all of which was filler in one way or another.

Awesome!! I was wondering if we'd see you again after the demise of Kametsu. Loved DBR. Question: how much gets cut from Kai? I'm guessing like a minute or two per episode on average.
@zman - Glad you liked DBR! I actually went to update my post on Kametsu to find that it was gone and the site has changed! But I'm glad you were able to find it anyway. As for how much gets cut from Kai, you're right in that it usually averaged about a minute or two per episode, but there were many episodes toward the beginning that hardly needed to be changed at all. That number started to increase significantly toward the latter half of the Namek/Freeza arc, though. I added a note in the description, but the total amount of footage cut from these episodes came to 1 hour, 58 minutes and 12 seconds.
@John_Rhogan78 - I will/already have for the most part. Just need to put the finishing touches on them.

Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying it! I'm *hoping* to complete Kai relatively quickly, with the Android/Cell arc the closest to being done. I've already done all the hard editing for the episodes, now it's just a matter of going through and finalizing everything (the main hold-up is reinserting the Yamamoto score back in). If all goes well, hopefully I can get that out within 1 or 2 months. Sorry, but unfortunately this kind of thing can take a very long time. The Boo arc shouldn't take too long, there's much less work to do there (i.e. no score to replace).

I do! As per my comment above, that's actually the main hold up at the moment as it takes a while to reinsert the score back in. I'm hoping to be able to put together a custom Yamamoto score for the last few Kikuchi-only episodes, at least on the English side (not sure if it's really even possible with the Japanese track).

In case you replace the Kikuchi songs in the last three episodes of the japanese dub with Yamamoto as well,
can you leave in a third audio track in there that has the last three episodes with the original Kikuchi songs as well?
I think I will collect only the Kai version of Z ( yours of course ) and not the original Z. So when rewatching Kai Recut it would be a nice send off at the end with the original score :) - for nostalgia of course ^^

I'm asking because the Japanese run had further improvements made to it, including color corrections of Boo's eyes and tongue, more filler being removed, more and different EDs, various improvements and corrections to the OP animation etc.
I sincerely hope you'll use the Japanese footage.
As for Yamamoto score, from what I saw the JP track in both English and Japanese Blurays is 2.0 so I'm not sure how you could replace the music short of basically nulling it out by matching the soundtrack recordings of Kikuchi score exactly in volume to the episodes and using audio editing software "null by sample" features. If you manage to squeeze Yamamoto score into those last few episodes it would be amazing but I won't blame you if you can't.

Honestly, it's looking more and more like a custom Japanese Yamamoto track just won't be possible. The most likely scenario is that I'll have a custom English Yamamoto track along with the English and Japanese Kikuchi tracks.

I'll be using a bit of both; Japanese for most of the openings and endings along with any corrections to the footage, and international for the rest, mainly because I can pace it better that way. The Japanese cut, at least in the first couple episodes, moved a little *too* fast, if I recall correctly.
It's also looking very likely that a 4:3 HD cut is going to be possible with this upcoming announcement from Funimation and Toei for what I'm assuming is going to be a full HD remaster of the entire series on Bluray. I'm **very** excited about this.

It's rumored to be a remaster of DBZ, but nothing has been confirmed yet. I'm actually far less sure now about whether or not it's actually going to be a 4:3 remaster since the announcement makes it seem like they're just going to be repackaging the currently available 16:9 BDs into a collector's edition. Hopefully I'm wrong, though, because I, too, would love to have the Boo arc in 4:3 HD!

Watching episode two. This looks both cut and uncut. The blood from Piccolo was red in DBZ. But there was lots of blood when Goku dies. Did you upscale Dragon Boxes to make cut certain scenes uncut?
