Everything PPP-Raw releases is from laserdisc source. At the time of ripping, no DVD or Bluray souce is known to exist.
Domesday Edition:
This was captured using a Domesday Duplicator. You can read all about the Domeday Duplicator project at https://www.domesday86.com/?page_id=978.
Project notes (v2):
I made an error in encoding both this and Moomin 1-12: I encoded at the wrong framerate. This version is the correct framerate. I still had the workfiles for this one sitting on my drive, so I could correct the issue quickly, but I’ve deleted the Moomin work files, so I’ll need to re-filter those all over again. Fortunately, I don’t have to decode the raw RF again, that’s the slowest part. So, next up will be v2 of Moomin 1-12, then Moomin 13-26.
Project notes:
I am taking a short break from Moomin ‘69 for two smaller titles. Like Moomin, this one is on loan from the same collector, so thank you for that!
This is one of the two different Monster Kid movies, based on an old manga by Fujiko A. Fujio (not to be confused with his longtime partner, Fujiko F. Fujio). Their works, while popular, are just not for me. But I am better disposed towards this than I was towards Time Patrol Bon, which I captured a few months ago. The artwork is more detailed, even intricate in places, and its being used to render more monsters, and less people, which seems to help as well.
The two Monster Kid TV series have been reissued on DVD, but the two movies don’t seem to have been. So if you like this, well, there’s more of it out there!
This was captured with the Domesday Duplicator and decoded using a pre-release of v5.2 of ld-decode, which does not have very good audio support yet. As such, I have also captured this conventionally, and have supplied unfiltered DVD converstions of both captures. I recommend applying the conventional audio to the Domesday video if anyone out there plans to subtitle this – the subtitles should help youi resynch the audio, as without that guidepost, I’d just be guessing really.
Speaking of which, Orphan is looking for encoder and translator types. See https://collectr.blogspot.com/2019/06/translators-encoders-wanted-aka-status.html
