How good is the remaster/source? Worth buying the BD?

Its somewhat subjective. They removed a lot of the grain (controversial) and the line art looks a lot clearer. They where also pretty lazy, and it could have definitely been better. The most glaring issue for me with the 2019 remaster is the disgusting distortion on the sides they didn't bother doing anything with. I would much rather sacrifice 6 pixels on each side then have two white lines show up on every frame at the edges.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLrSW-WHdbQ Heres a comparison i found on youtube. Just keep in mind the artifacts are mostly caused by youtube compression but you can still get a feel for how much more 'crisp' the 2019 copy is.
I have both the dvd and the new bd. Even the sd copy is better then the older versions.
I don't mind the remaster all that much, I just wish the studio took the time to stabilize it a little bit like in bxyh's release. :( The shakiness gets nauseating.
I'm happy my upload could help!
it have spanish subs?
Edit: I'm watching the encode...and the entire frame is literally moving like almost 5-7 pixels it looks like. Almost like a camera is being stabilized...@MiasmaSea would you mind checking this out...?? Its quite jarring BRO THIS IS SICK. Would love if you could give others treatment like this, Mindgame all time fave, paprika, and if you're brave Ghoest in the Shell1995. regardless though, thanks sosos much
Remastering in japan = remove grain, add some warpsharp. And eventually do not try to stabilize. SAD SAD SAD
would have preferred it more if they hadn't removed that much grain anyways merci.
I had only ever watched stabilised versions of the film before so trying to watch this one was really distracting and even a little dizzying. It's a shame because comparing some of the versions myself it's obvious that despite having its own drawbacks the 2019 version does indeed have better looking lineart but without stabilising it's just not watchable for me.
