@Segment @hanabi @Roman-sama I think it's because the actual production master resolution it's 810p, most studios use 720p and a few draw at 1080p and others use really weird resolutions like this one xD. The 1080p you see at crunchy or funi are most of the time just shitty upscales that look exactly the same as the 720p does, but they're double the size, so that weebs don't complain I guess, don't really know it's pretty stupid imho.
@Guardines15 Bullshit, I'm 100% sure they drew this anime at least at 1080p. I have season 1 in 1080p on my PC and I can clearly see on my 1080p monitor that the quality of the S1 1080p encodes is higher than this 810p encode of this ova.The ova seems to be blurred and the 1080p S1 I mentioned before isn't. PS Sorry for bad English, just wanted to share my opinion on what you said.
They make anime in native 1080p for A WHILE (even 4k), this 720p upscaled to 1080p is BS for a long time now. I remember like at least over 8 years ago, I read the japanese gov was now forcing studios to make native 1080p anime because for exportation it's better, something like that. That was because studios were cutting off where they can and 720p was maybe cheaper to make, idk. Of course I didn't double check the news but it was on a legit anime/manga website.
BTW 810p dosn't mean it's not fhd, it can be 810x1920, you just gonna have black bar if you don't have a very wide screen. And CR is streaming, wait until the bluray to judge, I guess the 720p on CR is gonna look crap versus 1080p bluray. On my side, 1080p on CR looks better than the 720p CR, your screen must be bad or you have a little screen. Of course if you watch on a 32" tv your 720p is gonna look pretty much the same as the 1080p..
