@pitterpatterpea - this is a result of the fonts not being muxed into the MKV files themselves, an issue I mentioned in another comment thread. If you use mkvtoolnix you can inspect the "attachments" tab and if you add the contents of the Fonts subfolder of each release, you should get a resulting file that renders the subtitles correctly in any compliant player. Caveat: the default behaviour of mkvtoolnix is to recognise the fonts as "font/sfont" - as far as I understand, this is entirely correct behaviour, but some players don't like it. It's possible to override the MIME type that mkvtoolnix declares for each attachment, and experimenting with this may be necessary. I think some discussions need to be had between the matroska developers and the devs for various video playback suites and libraries. Another option is that your player of choice may have a way to handle external fonts (perhaps in a `/fonts` directory local to the video file, perhaps in a specific `config/fonts` directory of some kind), in which case you may simply copy the fonts to the appropriate location, though this will only assist playback of these files on your current device.

The mkvtoolnix worked, thank you. My player (MPC-HC) couldn't handle external fonts.
