I think he encoded from a BDMV.

What's weird here is this release https://nyaa.si/view/1273654 They're the literally the same in everything, except for the file sizes. This one is bigger, both video size & audio size are bigger, but the quality of [zza] is 99.9% the same. The difference in video quality is perhaps that [224] has slightly more grain, which doesn't really do anything in improving video details, so downloading this one https://nyaa.si/view/1273654 is better.
