**Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei [Season 1]**
*with `Jpn Dub` and `Eng Subs` in `BD 720p HEVC`*
Reencode of [Ohys-Raws] (x264 AVC AAC) to (x265 HEVC AAC) with added English subtitles from [Anonymous].
*Side Note: I planned to use season 1 from that big batch upload mentioned below (Subsource) as my source where the subtitles are already timed. Unfortunately, many signs had misstimings (scene bleeds), openings were sometimes not translated and had different styles throughout the season and all the endings were 'missing' (ordered chapters). Also the substyling changed throughout the season. I checked a couple different subtitle sources on Nyaa and pretty much all had the same problem with missing things (OP/ED).*
*That's why I used [Ohys-Raws], which included the endings in each episode. I retimed the subtitles from that big batch to that. I inserted the OP translation where missing and made the styling of all the OP and main dialog uniform and inserted the ED subtitles in every episode. I went through every single one of the GAZILLION signs in this show and tried to time them frame by frame to get rid of these scene bleeds. Here is hoping that I got them all.*
*The studio made a new OP for EP 10 + 11 for which I couldn't find translation. So these are untranslated.*

**Synopsis**
Nozomu Itoshiki is a high school teacher so pessimistic that even the smallest of misfortunes can send him into a pit of raging despair; some of these "catastrophes" even lead to suicide attempts. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is a satirical slice-of-life comedy set in the modern day, covering various aspects of Japanese life and culture through Nozomu and his interactions with his students: Kiri Komori, a recluse who refuses to leave the school; Abiru Kobushi, an enigma who frequently arrives to class with severe and mysterious injuries; the hyper-optimistic Kafuuka Fuura, Nozomu's polar opposite; and several other unusual girls, all of whom are just as eccentric as their teacher.

Basically here is the deal:
I am shrinking/muxing anime for **my** ever growing personal PTW collection (the fight is not lost yet! but the enemy is strong!). If somebody requests something I'm checking it out and if I'd like to watch that too someday, I'm doing it (for myself mainly) and share it. I like to share what I'm doing so others can use them too if that's what they like. If there is already a HEVC encode I'm grabbing that instead as my only goal is filling my collection. I am keeping all of them for potential rewatch and have found low size HEVC is the right format for me.
I check out what is available for that anime on Nyaa and work with whats there.
First I check already encoded high size AVC releases where somebody did all the subtitles work already since I am inherently lazy. If I like them (meaning, I like how they look qualitywise) then I use them. I don't mind the quality loss difference from using a first encode as source comapred to a remux/bdmv because most of the time I can't tell the difference anyway while watching (not laboratory conditions with still frames). I can't make it more clear what this is (reencode, stating the sources with links, giving comparison shots) so anybody interested in low sized encodes can check it out or leave it and go for the source I used (that's why I also post the link).
If I can't find 'premuxed' releases that I like then I go for raw and mux/time them myself.
ONLY IF nothing else is available do I consider using a remux/bdmv as source. That's because I am not as experienced as others around here (who provide me with excellent source releases by encoding these, which in turn I can use for my work) and also because I am lazy :)
Everything I'm uploading here is what will be in my collection and will eventually grace my eyes with blurry HEVC goodness.
Just kidding, trying to find a ballance between effort / size / blurryness.
Each to their own, eh?
Daaaaaang you KRandroid then I have to mark my torrent "white" again or Godim will be angry with me! =(
(My OCD has problems with one single of my torrents being a different color, you see?)
@neoborn Yeah, I understand at least you are not re-encoding already bit starved releases (I hope).
>I have to mark my torrent “white” again or Godim will be angry with me!
I will be monitoring your page every day to be sure that you haven't changed it back. This is serious business!
You clearly don't know anything (or don't care) about video quality if you use ohys as a base. Even worse when you are re-encode a bad encode. You are free to do whatever you want, I am also free to point out why your choices are questionable at best and stupid at worst.
> Which ones aren’t shit then in your opinion, Interruptor?
Just saying **Ohys is shit** without stating why or which ones would be better doesn't help me or anybody else, ya know?
Ohys are unanimously considered to be a terrible group. Basically the last choice if nothing else is available. I don't know good raws for this particular anime, I just know they suck.
**@Interruptor**
Actually kill me. All she does is re-encode. Just don't DL. You know what this is. As of now, there are no good raws on public trackers. There is a 20GB version of this that's great and has the best subs. Re-encoding something that's already encoded, is a meme that should die.
I don't really go by name. I download episodes from many different sources and compare case by case. I didn't notice anything bad on these so I used them.
pretty sure nonA or Kuchi was a better encode than Ohys for S1. You used kuchi subs anyway, why not just encode the same release instead of using an inferior raw?
@SeaSmoke:
Kuch cut out the ending (as I explained in the description) and I like to have the ending in the episode itself rather than as a seperate file. I checked nonA too and decided to go with ohys because they were practically identitcal to me and ohys has s2 and s3 aswell.
@Ingenioussubs
That 20Gb upload has timing issues in 2 seasons (heavy scene bleeds on signs). Have you even downloaded that release and checked for yourself or did you just go through the description of the torrent real quick? Because I have and that's why I have put in the work to retime every sign and plan to do so for the other seasons as well.
**@neoborn**
I did DL that. There was nothing wrong with the subs except for timing and some signs were iffy iirc. Damn though. Hard drive failed a while back, so all the files were lost. I would give you the sub corrections if I could. But wait, if you downloaded the 20GB release, couldn’t you just re-encode that? Why download a raw version? You could splice the ending in.
About what I said earlier: It’s true, but I put it in the wrong way. Wasn’t intending to piss you off.
Watching anime is very subjective. Some like the weirdest things. What gets me off is signs that show up to 8 frames into the wrong scene. That is very distracting and minders my personal fun when watching. It is very noticeable. I am not saying I don't make the same blunders and mistakes myself. I am appreciative to anybody that uploads things where they put in their free time with no pay for the benefit of us all. I changed source on personal comparison and taste while actually watching and not on numbers or names. Isn't that what really matters in the end? How it feels for me while I am watching it? And if I like something while watching, be it moozzi2 or ohys or whoever uploads what, then why shouldn't I use that? It would have been possible to add the ending back in I did not think of that. I am a specialist in taking things away. I'll give you that.
What I personally don't mind is a little less video quality and a bit more lost details. I am finding the balance that is right for me and my viewing pleasure. Others don't like that and delete every show after watching anyway. I'd go with 50gb uploads too if I did it like that. I like to keep everything saved after watching. That is why I reduce the size of the shows to a level that I like. I am not stupid and know reencoding gets you to a lower level of video quality compared to doing a first encode of a lossless source. BUT I don't, personally, see that much of a difference most of the time and that is why I have chosen to go this route (see my big comment above for more clear details on my thought process). I don't get why people get off on mini encodes and reencodes. I am not taking anything away from Nyaa and only add an alternative version for people who like it small for whatever personal reason. I don't make identical copies to spam the site and take away seeders from others work which I appreciate highly. As stated, If there is already a low size encode I am perfectly fine with that one and use that one myself and don't put out another one.
omg this ius amazing, i love your work, its now my nr.1 favorite source for anime to archive :) its amazing! btw. i love Zentsubou Sensei, any chance for other seasons in the future? thanks so much
EDIT: just saw the "Season 2 and 3 as well as OVA/Specials will follow in the near future." thanks!
