I never understood why no one downloaded [Erai-raws] before horrible died. It was the same thing.

For me it was my automated script, after every new Season, I used to enter the anime list that I had planned to watch and it used to generate RSS according and auto download whenever a new episode used to come out, since the script was made before Erai came, by default it was only HorribleSubs, plus some people preferred HS since they did used to change the font and size of the subs compared to Erai who use the original script for example Crunchyroll's font and size is horrible... hehe u see there....what i did..

Doesn't Erai-Raws take more time because they "fix" the subtitles?

Main issue I tend to find with Erai sub recently is that there's more sub typos than HS, probably because of the reason Godim said above, They tend to fix the issues with v2 however when HS didn't always care cause it was all done by their bots. Ironically Erai seem to have more sub issues and video source issue than HS recently with's a shame consider they were better than them in almost every aspect

@NoobSubs, because HorribleSubs were existing for 10+ years. Long before CR and Erai. Though they were really horrible at that time...

personally i discovered Erai YEARS after Horrible. i mean, i didn't have to search for seasonal if i wwas following them. And i used nyaa maybe for older anime that Erai does not have. I think many have the same history more or less

Downloading 480p when most anime are already animated higher than 720p makes no sense. If you have a limited bandwidth even 720p hevc re-encodes should look better than SD quality.

My issue with Erai has always their lack of embedded fonts. This isn't an issue for most people since most scripts use Microsoft core fonts but this is an issue for those using *nix systems as these aren't preinstalled nor are they available in every distro's repo and they also aren't FOSS. It also just makes the files a lot less portable. I just set up a script to embed the fonts on my seedbox so I don't have to bother with installing MS fonts on my personal systems.

It seems to me that the problem of most people is that they can't be bothered to fix something for themselves and expect to be catered to 100%. Sad, really.

I used both, HS just had the very nice schedule listed on the site (livechart, but limited to daily to see what was on today instead of the mess livechart shows)

I used mostly HS since I liked their font, they only had English subtitles and I could download their releases through IRC. Sadly I'm one of these who don't want to fix anything themselves. I simply watch / enjoy the files just as they are. Partially it was also a habit for me since I knew HS way longer than Erai. I usually only downloaded Erai-releases for group watches when the other guys were using Erai or in case of releases which HS didn't release e.g. the Haikyu!! 3rd Season Movies.
