[SubsPlease] Re Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu - 39 (1080p) [26C6BE62].mkv (1.6 GiB)
>Is it me or the English translation is rather bad?
Yeah, it's fucking bad as fuck.
CR made a lot of TL errors that actually matter.
For an instance, 11:57-12:04
>The first Ryuzu-san I met called herself "Bilma."
I never meant to hide anything from Ryuzu-san...
nope.jpg
He didn't say that he tried to hide something from her.
He said that SHE actually did NOT hide her name from him.
Makes sense, right?
@ Kamiyan93
True.
And it's not the only one, right?
For example, at 8:42
> Unlike Garfiel, I don't have to worry about dying.
That sounds as if Garfiel has to worry about dying. But Subaru seems to mean that he doesn't have to worry about dying due to talking to Emilia. While talking to Garfiel may end with him being killed. Ranobe translation: "Unlike with Garfiel, I’m not afraid it’s gonna get me killed." Yep, that's what Subaru means here.
Another example, at 24:51:
> All the people who told you that kind lie, that they wanted to protect you...
I guess Fortuna said something different. In ranobe she said: "I wanted to protect you. I spoke white lies so that no one would hate you.”
I am surprised English translation for such a popular anime is like that. They could at least have checked the ranobe translation before making their own one.
Can always count on subsplease for consistency. Well translation quality is a official thing, but for the people who can't wait your stuff oughta do it.
@ barrett: What does ty stand for?
@ Regrettablemajor270: It's not a matter of being impatient or anything like that. That's an official translation, right? Therefore, the translator got money for it, right? Shouldn't one call that kind of translation a quickie, a potboiler or whatever word you find appropriate for such cases? It's just disrespectfull to the audience. Is CR unable to hire a more skilled translator? Do they have no shame?
>I guess Fortuna said something different. In ranobe she said: "I wanted to protect you. I spoke white lies so that no one would hate you.”
@Ryuuneko I'd translate that as, "Please don't hate the people who told you well-meaning lies in order to protect you."
