Here is the first episode of Megaloman, with full English subtitles that actually make sense! (gasp)
Seriously, I threw out what ARR/Kingmenu attempted to do a few years back and did my own translation & styling, with Kaiju doing the timing. The rest you’ll have to see for yourself.
Megaloman was produced by Toho in 1979 as a tokusatsu/giant hero series. It lasted 31 episodes before being canceled due to low ratings. It’s basically a clone of Ultraman with some sentai themes sprinkled in for good measure. The most notable feature of this series is the hero’s costume design, which has a long mane of blonde hair running down his back. This mane would catch on fire, stand straight up, and shoot a fireball at the kaiju of the week in order to defeat it. Gotta love 70’s toku!
This file is a softsub MKV, with subs styled in a way that mirrors an 80's VHS fansub. You have been warned.
I also apologize for the slight delay in uploading this as opposed to the hardsubbed version first; ISP was acting up.
Megaloman has never had an official VHS/DVD/BD release in Japan or anywhere else, so the raw is actually a VOD (Video on Demand) rip from an old broadcast VHS source. It’s not terrible, but the nighttime scenes are a little dark. These raws were shared via Google Drive on the Brazilian toku site Planet Satsus, so if you feel like spending an hour or two doing some DDLs, head over there and get them before they vanish forever.
This is still an active project, and I am working on translating episode 2, so stay tuned, and enjoy!
