You may require XInput1_3.dll if you don't have it already installed - it is distributed with many games, drop the 32bit version of that in the game directory if needed.
The game also requires a Direct3D 11 capable GPU, if you wish to play it in a VM, you may have to use the basic display adapter (disable VM's own adapter).

@Shaun don't forget to mention Johren support telling someone to just buy the game again if they reached the 3 activation limits and they didn't go through their convoluted method of revoking the license from their computer or old installation. Absolutely stupid how they couldn't at least be bothered to add a script or even just a small shortcut for license revocation.

I forgot the specifics, but doesn't Big Daddy DMM own both Johren and ShiraVN anyway? Or is it that another parent company owns them all? That's why ShiraVN gets a huge catalogue of VNs to access to and they mostly (or is it only?) release on Steam and Johren. I'm not sure about DT2's release on DMM, but DMM also sucks ass in terms of DRM. They have the basic online-check-at-start DRM and a crappier one through their proprietary player. All these suck, but the worst of them all is sticking DRM into physical copies of their games.
With that, it's pretty hard to just support the developers without playing into the hands of the big daddy on top. The best you could do is buy the company's merchandise since they have huge profit margins on those, but I don't think it's feasible here since they're probably not releasing new merchandise for this old game.

My windows decided to trash the exe, but after checking it, the cracked exe seems less worse than the official one according to virustotal...
Just saying this here to give someone who's planning on downloading this a peace of mind.
If anyone's .exe is getting trashed by Defender, you can see that Defender detected it as "Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.H!ml" or something similar to that. I say "something similar to that" because for some reasons, after allowing the .exe, Defender decided to scan and quarantine the exact same file, and labeled it as a different virus (lol how wack can you get). The "ml" part of "H!ml" means machine learning and what this implies is they DON'T have the virus in their database, but they THINK it's a virus because reasons reasons reasons. Traditionally, AV software works by checking their database against your file and issuing a verdict. Here, they're just basing it on basically a "gut feel". It's been an issue for months now and the rates for false positives is extremely high with Windows tagging obviously innocent files such as random .zip with images in it, or even the Arch Linux and SteamOS .iso as trojans.
Exercise caution of course when downloading wares, but you could rest easy with this because this one's been vetted by multiple people across forums and image-boards.
Very glad I don't have to wait for Vita emulation to be up to snuff to play this on my PC. I only wish it wasn't Shiravune that picked up the game.

I keep getting disk erros when downloading this torrent, I have no idea what to do.
The torrent says that the size is 6.93GB but I have DL'd more than 7.25GB. I verify all my files, keep DL'ing for a bit, but it never finishes. It's perpetually stuck at 99,7%
I rather support a platform where games like this releases and pirating steam exclusive games where they can't.
About this: i want to play it on my android tablet with winulator, so i have to a version what can i start offline.
