Judgment did the editing. Judgment is the track called "Dub / R1 (Heavily Modified)". Judgment subs have one single sign for a letter at 38:33 and it's was tracked to the old shaky video but the remaster has been stabilized, is framed slightly differently with more image visible and has different colors so now the sign shakes when it shouldn't and has the wrong colors because the sign wasn't adjusted to the new video. The recent JPN remaster edition certainly has better colour, details and no crushed black or noise like the previous editions. It's also zoomed out a bit, showing more picture information on all sides. So, the JPN BD was used as the source. The dirt lines were fixed. The JPN BD has a bit lower grain, and also the red colour areas are flat, so a bit of grain was added across the main movie part to prevent any banding. The Credit scenes were zoned. (Anyone curious about how this master compares to previous better master of JPN DVD, here's the [comparison](https://slow.pics/c/k2pA7RiJ)) ▣ It's an interesting anime. As listed in the JPN BD, the English audio was released [theatrically](https://ptpimg.me/t62rbq.jpg), and then the Japanese track was distributed locally in Japan. So, the English track was released first as the production team's strategic decision to target the Western market & Director Kawajiri's choice to prioritise English aligns with his vision for the film's aesthetic and narrative, which drew heavily from Western gothic and European influences. So, the English track was set as the default. But as you already know, the English track suffers a lot of mistranslation, like the word "dhampir" to "dunpeal". Also, the biggest difference I can think of is that Left Hand talks a lot more in the English dub. Some people hold it against the English dub because Left Hand isn't quite as chatty in the novels. The Japanese version references the lore and dialogue from the books, e.g., D just mimics Carmilla's "rule of nature" and "blood traitor" prattle in English. In the Japanese version, he drops a line from the books "transient visitors"... There's more thoughtfulness and subtlety in the Japanese. Main point, both audios are great, choose which one you prefer to watch with. ▣ For the audio, the Japanese track was available in the new JPN BD and the JPN DVD releases. From the [comparison](https://slow.pics/c/uYL0pz5h), the JPN DVD audio is superior to the JPN BD version. And also, the JPN BD doesn't include the original Japanese Ending song "Tōku Made"; instead included as an extra, labelling it as "オリジナル日本語ver.エンディングを別途収録" but the JPN DVD included this ending song. So, the Japanese track was taken from the JPN DVD, which was synced to the JPN BD by @SIUUU! (Thanks!) For the English audio track, it was taken from the GER BD, as you can [here](https://slow.pics/c/iVKfzct3), GER or USA English tracks are similar, and the USA track has some clipping, so after overall comparison, the GER English track was chosen. ▣ The English (SDH) subtitle from the USA BD, the Dutch subtitle from NLD DVD were OCR'ed & spell-checked by me, and a non-sdh version of English was created. The English (Signs / Songs) was created for [this scene](https://ptpimg.me/9a6z3r.png), and as the Japanese track was only released in Japan, no retail English subtitle was released, but fortunately, thanks to @Judgement, the fansub of this is perfect, which was edited by @wham. (This track also includes the Japanese Ending song "Tōku Made" lyrics at the ending, Enjoy!) So, both were added. The Greek subtitle was by dimxr@HDB, the Romanian subtitle was by @NoOne, the Swedish subtitle was by @KungFredda, & the Italian subtitle was by GigiBestema@HDB. ▣ There were two chapter name versions, 1. The [USA BD & DVD version](https://ptpimg.me/f874n3.png) & 2. [The JPN BD & DVD version](https://ptpimg.me/108p5w.jpg), after checked the chapter points and naming, the JPN version has the better chapter positioning and naming, so it was used and the chapters were synced to the closest I-frames. ▣ Reason for PROPER: As mentioned previously, the Japanese track was taken from the JPN DVD, which was already in lossy format, so this time @SIUUU did edits with the DTS track to avoid transcodes and included it untouched to avoid further transcode.
