One day, a beautiful girl appears at their front door, calling herself "Maroko Yomota." She is the granddaughter of Inumaru and has travelled back in time with a time machine to visit her ancestors. Despite Tamiko's strong objection, Kinekuni and Inumaru welcome her to stay with them, and the structure of a "typical" family begins to collapse. This series is a parody of the "family drama" animes of the 1980s. It combines a primitive animation style with maddening (and occasionally very funny) dialog. In the end, it's almost a long shaggy-dog story with a post-modern twist at the end. An acquired taste.
