This is a 10 bit HEVC / x265 reencode of [Nep_Blanc's](https://nyaa.si/user/Nep_Blanc "Nep_Blanc's profile") 34.6 gb release of Death Note, with all audio encoded to AC3 to keep the dual audio tracks consistent with each other. English audio and signs/song for dub subtitle track are default. Here are some comparison shots of my encode vs [Nep_Blanc's encode ](https://nyaa.si/view/977328 "Nep_Blanc's encode") Source https://extraimage.net/images/2018/05/28/63d4108405448f9d1b771cd8f49e5821.jpg https://extraimage.net/images/2018/05/28/649410e02ce0a4af88da4c3b1b6c0001.jpg https://extraimage.net/images/2018/05/28/595ab4cd6ea7955125e28d0f747ecc8d.jpg Mine https://extraimage.net/images/2018/05/28/6105f2738d3c63b8409dd8ac882d865b.jpg https://extraimage.net/images/2018/05/28/c0e7cf2cc2eebbf9f02fb15f68894b4e.jpg https://extraimage.net/images/2018/05/28/ebb86e2e4a1540d179a9124b4323d1ef.jpg Keep the file size differences in mind. ### Synopsis A shinigami, as a god of death, can kill any person—provided they see their victim's face and write their victim's name in a notebook called a Death Note. One day, Ryuk, bored by the shinigami lifestyle and interested in seeing how a human would use a Death Note, drops one into the human realm. High school student and prodigy Light Yagami stumbles upon the Death Note and—since he deplores the state of the world—tests the deadly notebook by writing a criminal's name in it. When the criminal dies immediately following his experiment with the Death Note, Light is greatly surprised and quickly recognizes how devastating the power that has fallen into his hands could be. With this divine capability, Light decides to extinguish all criminals in order to build a new world where crime does not exist and people worship him as a god. Police, however, quickly discover that a serial killer is targeting criminals and, consequently, try to apprehend the culprit. To do this, the Japanese investigators count on the assistance of the best detective in the world: a young and eccentric man known only by the name of L. ### File details Video: Show; 1920x1080 24 fps HEVC Main 10 Audio: English; AC3 Stereo ~192 kbit/s Japanese; AC3 Stereo ~192 kbit/s Subtitles: English; ASS subtitles Signs/Song for Dub; ASS subtitles English Simplified; PGS subtitles (no custom font or animation)

Nice meme but you should use qaac

Thanks for your original release (that's why I credited and linked both your profile and your release, as I do with all originals I reencode). I started out using AAC in handbrake, but this in some cases resulted in very strange artifacting, even at high bitrates. I've seen none of these problems when using AC3, so that's what I am using for now. My encodes are intended to try and maintain as much visual quality as possible at far lower file sizes. I couldn't care less about FLAC audio other than with music, so I reencode it as I can. If you have any tips, I'd be glad to take them into consideration!
No its more that you just remux that's it. no issues also you use the same software as me but re encoding you mean only audio I hope. Otherwise please don't and just rip out the audio and use foobar to transcode the audio but as this is a remux I ask you just to ask me to make a small version of my encodes. As this inherently is just easy enough for me.

I reencode the audio and video both. Audio is encoded to AC3 192kbit and video is encoded to 10bit x265 with handbrake. The quality settings I use vary on a show by show basis as I try to get to around 350mb per episode if I can, but go with a larger file size if that quality is too poor.
Okay you definitely don't know the losses involved with re encoding my already encoded source video. So you just induced a double loss so you just made a re encode of my release. Sorry but this is a meme please stop butchering this as this is not needed and apparently you don't even know how muxing works. I have a lot of tips for you if you just join my discord it could be a lot easier.

HMMMMMMMMM I do understand the losses involved with reencoding an already encoded file, especially x265>x265, but fuck ripping from source when a perfectly good, if way too big version is already available. I'm not making these for elitists, I'm making them for people who want to have manageable file sizes and watchable quality. Hence the reason I put screenshots in every release. If someone doesn't like my version, they are welcome to download yours, or anyone else'.
No the thing what you don't understand is that you do things that are totally unnecessary. Also good luck with wasting your own time And btw getting this from BDMV first is ways better as this doesn't hurt it as much. Just saying your release is red as this is an re-encode of my release. That came directly from BDMV that is encoded in h264 with average bitrate of 40mb/s. So if you use my release as source you just use an already blended file and you blend it again meaning it gets blend too much and is gonna taste bad.
Good Work! ^-^ And can you encode High School DxD please?
The artifacts come if you do not give it enough bit rate. I notice many re-encoders giving outputs of about the same audio bit rate ranges such as 192kbps and so on not realizing that some audio files may be fine with those settings while other requires more especially music type of shows like Love Live will require more. It's why it is best to simply use max qAAC settings and let the encoder do it's thing. Even if want to just be lazy about it sticking to 256 kbps (q109) might be sufficient enough but why not go all the way since file size will be 40-70MB. Encoding it to AC3 you will lose quality compared to qAAC overall thus why the artifact went away when you made it AC3 (guessing you did it at the same 192 kbps sample) even Vorbis would of been a better choice then AC3. If you still decide on AC3 give it more bit rate. I don't know if handbrake uses qAAC but if it doesn't and uses something like Nero probably should use foobar and do it from there tho you'll need to extract the AppleApplicationSupport.exe from iTunes.exe and install them to use qAAC. I dunno what headphones or sound system you may have but if it's cheap you may not hear the artifacts while others like myself may hear them so keep that in mind too.
It's even easier if you just rip out the flac track transcode that with foobar2000 and mix that back in without the flac tracks
Just uploaded the flacless release this is 4 gigs smaller ^^. And encoded with qaac.
Handbreak's aac is shitty..idk what happened but after the update (like 6months ago) they changed their aac..so avoid encoding audio on handbreak..use foobar2000 for audio encoding.
Thank you for this was fine for a casual first time watch :D
Really amazing work here regardless of the re-encode!
Thanks for the release, its just the file size I was searching for.
