Did you know that due to licensing issues, the first ED, A Little Pain was excluded from the official Nana DVD release? It was replaced with the second ED, Starless Night, meaning that ED2 plays throughout the first 2/3 of the anime. This was not originally intended. The songs in Nana are strongly linked to the story progression with both lyrics and mood, the fade-in at the end of each episode makes you associate certain songs with certain story segments. ED2 is not only unfitting for the beginning of the story, but it also flattens the transition to the story segment in which it's actually supposed to play.
Only having watched the TV version in the past, I was really sad when I found about this. You could always watch the TV version that had the original EDs, but the quality of a hardsub of an old series isn't too great. Besides, new watchers wouldn't even know about it. Something had to be done, so I did, and now you can get best of both worlds - DVD quality with original EDs!
- Based on [Jinsei] DVD release.
- Video is intact (ED videos are the same for TV and DVD)
- For the episodes needed (1-18 + 41), audio from TV and DVD versions were combined so that the original EDs (from TV version) play at the right episodes. These episodes are in FLAC to prevent lossy-to-lossy compression. (Complete size 14.2 GB --> 15.4 GB)
- Replaced the ED lyrics and syllable karaoke effects for the right episodes (style taken from certain episode where the song plays as an insert song).
- Fixed many subtitle style issues like some OP/ED custom fonts randomly missing, and inconsistent scaling settings for subtitles, which made half of the episodes look different when scaled to full screen.

(v2 is because I had accidentally put wrong video track in ep 2 in the first release, so it's fixed here.)
this is just so sad. Why some series that were released in 2006 don't have hd quality? Nana and xxxholic are 2 of my favourites and I have to watch them in dvd quality. what the f happened to anime in
2006? JUST SO SAD.
Stuff like this is why I love this community. Thank you so much. Karaoke and typesetting looks great. Hopefully the BluRays will be good quality and eventually we can get a good release for them.
